Hey Giants fans! Hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had a nice couple of days break with our families and friends and I’m sure all the guys have made the most of it as we are away most weekends and don’t get this chance very often during the season. This was my 3rd Christmas in Belfast and it gets better every year. There’s nothing like sitting around the kitchen table wearing the paper hat you get in your Christmas cracker and getting stuck into a Christmas dinner. It’s back to business now and we’ve got a tough couple of weeks ahead of us, however this is a challenge all good teams have to face and I believe we have got the team to do it.
This is a real exciting time for the team and the fans and I’m so glad to be apart of it. After being away from Belfast for 2 years sometimes i think to myself, “Why did I ever leave this place?”, I love it here! We have a first class arena, great organization, an awesome city and fantastic support from the fans. The last 2 years have really helped me improve my game and mature as a goalie. This summer I thought the time was right to come back after talking to Killer and Thornts. Everything they both told me I was impressed with and there was no question, I wanted to be apart of this team. Both of them have put together a great team and all the guys clicked right away, it was great to see some old faces and meet some new ones. I remember the day i signed for the Giants and Thornts said, “I can’t believe I’ve got 2 Welsh goalies in my team!” I think Belfast has to be the only team outside Cardiff to ever have done that. Its amazing to think that on my 6th Birthday when my parents took me to watch Cardiff play Sheffield that the 14 year old goalie in nets and the guy I looked up to as a kid was going to be my goalie partner in Belfast 15 years later.
Now that the New Year is almost upon us, I know all the guys will give everything we’ve got night in night out and hopefully we can get off to a good start in 2009. I’m really grateful for the chances I’ve been given to play so far this season. So for 2009 I’m going to work harder and give 110% to the team and hopefully bring some silverware back to Belfast.
Happy New Year to everyone
