This Saturday sees the Cardiff Devils travel to the Odyssey Arena for the first time in the 2012/13 Season, trailing the Stena Line Belfast Giants by three points in the Elite League standings having played one game more. And as far as head-to-head goes, the Giants will be the happier of the two sides having defeated the Devils 4-0 in Cardiff in their only previous meeting this season.
The Belfast Giants are the league’s form team right now having won all of their previous five games and have managed to take at least one point from each of their eight league games to date. However the Giants are certainly not guaranteed the two points on Saturday as the Devils have been in heavenly form of late too, defeating the Sheffield Steelers and Coventry Blaze in their last two games.
Saturday’s game is sure to entertain with both sides currently averaging over three goals per game, not to mention the season’s second clash of two of the toughest players in the league, Giants Captain Adam Keefe and Cardiff’s power forward, Devin Didiomete.
Both sides currently provide six of the top scorers in the Elite League with Cardiff’s Mac Faulkner top of the pile putting up 20 points in only 11 games thanks to 13 goals and seven assists. Daymen Rycroft is the Giants top scorer, posting five goals and nine assists, good for 14 points overall.
Saturday night’s battle at the Odyssey Arena is not to be missed. Face-off is 7pm, with Doors open from 6pm. Good seats are still available.
